About Glyndon
Glyndon is a residential area in the eastern part of the Royal Borough of Greenwich, located near Plumstead, Woolwich, Thamesmead and the wider Abbey Wood area. It has a practical and community-focused character, shaped by housing estates, local shops, schools, churches, parks and transport routes. The area is mainly residential and serves local families, commuters and long-term residents. It includes a mixture of post-war housing, terraces, flats, maisonettes and newer developments. Glyndon has a quieter and more everyday atmosphere than nearby Woolwich town centre, while still benefiting from access to its shops, markets, transport and riverside regeneration. Transport links are provided by local buses, with rail and Elizabeth line services available from nearby Woolwich, Plumstead or Abbey Wood depending on location. This gives residents connections to Canary Wharf, central London, Kent and other parts of South East London. Nearby green spaces include Plumstead Common, Winn’s Common and open areas toward Thamesmead and Abbey Wood. These provide walking routes, playgrounds and recreation for local residents. Glyndon is not tourist-focused, but it is an important part of Greenwich’s residential fabric. It is practical, local and community-oriented, suitable for family life and everyday South East London living.
